For many, November is a time of the year when they reflect on their life and think of the reasons why they are thankful. Perhaps everyone’s list would be completely different. Perhaps. However, more than likely we can find common ground and see similarities in our own lives and society in general. After all, we are only human. We are more similar than we sometimes realize.
What are you thankful for? What makes you smile when you wake up in the morning or when you finally get to go to sleep? What do you look forward to in the coming months? What are you proud of?
I am thankful for many things. I am thankful for all of the people who make their living by helping others. We are reminded in times of tragedy just how hard and devoted their professions truly are. They come when no one else will. They go into situations when everyone else is running out. They save lives, often at the risk of their own.
I am thankful for empathy. I am thankful that others try to have some empathy and understand where we are coming from. Empathy is such a beautiful addition to society. Empathy helps people.
I am thankful for time. Time gives us the ability to do those things on our list. Time can’t be exchanged or returned. You can’t trade it with anyone no matter how much you may want to. Time is beautiful.
I am thankful for inspiration. Like time, inspiration can’t be traded. You either have your genuine inspiration or you don’t. You either sit down and your inspiration and ideas flow, or you hit that proverbial block. The block when absolutely nothing happens even if you desperately need for it to happen. The block when it could literally cost you your job because you can’t bring results. The block that can hamper a career or crush it before it even has a chance to soar.
Inspiration can do all of that. However, inspiration in the right circumstances can do so much more. In the right circumstances we get medical breakthroughs. In the right circumstances, we get new knowledge about our world and our own existence. In the right circumstances, we get incredible and brilliant new inventions. In the right circumstances, we get incredible works of art, songs, movies, and books. Inspiration is magical in the right circumstances.
