I call it mush brain when a person has a hard time remembering things and basically functioning in their daily life. Stress alone can have a big impact on the ability to concentrate and remember. Our minds can only deal with so many tasks, obligations, or traumas before they start to falter. At some point something will simply give and it may very well be our sanity. It is important to take some down time or me time. Take some time to relax and refocus. To self assess how we are handling our life and what we need to do in order to continue on our journey.
Mush brain creeps up when you least expect it. Maybe it will be in aisle five when you forget that one or two items you actually needed to purchase from the store. Maybe you will find yourself struggling to remember someone’s name, perhaps even your own. Maybe you will find yourself losing things. Losing items. Losing time. Losing patience. Losing energy. Losing sanity. Maybe you will feel run down and beat up. Not knowing how you are going to get up to face another day of more of the same.
That is when you need to take a break. Take a break from your daily tasks. Take a time out. Regroup and refocus. It will get done. All of it will get done sooner or later and a refreshed version of yourself will make it that much easier. Remember that. You are worth it. You are more than what you can remember or handle at any given time.
